We are trying to do a bunch of things we won't necessarily get to do for a while once sister joins us this week so today we went out to breakfast in Snohomish at a cute restaurant called The Cabbage Patch...we had to convince Deven that it was better than Starbucks and apologize for his apparent life long addiction.
Any how the point is, we dragged home to a 'nicer' restaurant then instead of going to a park due to the rain we looked around town in a bunch of antique shops...as you can imagine Deven was losing his marbles by the end of our outing.
It was still raining when we got home but honestly the kid needed to 'get out into nature and make some discoveries' (Google Dinosaur Train)!! So we armed him with rain boots and a baseball hat and he went to work moving muddy water from one hole to another...no joke!! I checked on him midway through his adventure and he let me know that, "he didn't mind the rain drops." Honestly, at that point neither did we!!
Love that kid!

40 weeks tomorrow
So tomorrow is my official due date. Statistically speaking it is very unlikely that I will be having this little lady tomorrow but just in case I thought I would do a belly update tonight, while not in labor! :)
One good thing about not having sister here yet is that I got to keep my hair appointment and now I will look a little less icky in those after birth/surgery pics.
So the plan is that we will give this whole vbac or 'trial of labor' a shot for one more week and then we have to call it quits because risks to me and baby are just get too high. So next Wednesday if she hasn't graced us with her presence we are going to go in and get her! Creating an end date has really helped me relax and not be so anxious or worried. It will be slightly disappointing to not experience the whole labor thing but if this time is anything like the one we had with Deven, full of joy and love, then how she gets here is really besides the point.

Snow White
Deven loved the Nutcracker so much that I've been looking for another ballet that would be appropriate to bring an almost three year to ever since. Appropriate, in this case, is defined as one that the audience and perhaps even the dancers don't mind if they hear him talking through the entire show. PNB thankfully puts on a couple kiddo ballets to show case their school and this spring it was the story of Snow White. The advertisement came in the mail earlier this month and solidified my decision to try to take him. He was really excited to see the "step-ed wick momma" (wicked stepmother) who was lurking in the tree shows on the advert.
Needless to say it was a big hit and Deven was true to form by asking questions or commenting through out the entire hour long production (this is him prepping for the show with his theater binoculars). For instances, one question asked was, "what's in that girl ballet'ers hair?" The answer was, "orange butterflies because they were fairy god mothers."
Which brings me to the inclusion of Deven daily to this post. As I have posted in the past Deven has a vibrant imagination, to say the least. His stories always have elements of reality or fact or of his recent experiences. Lately Deven has been learning that nick and I are married...Disney movies may be contributing to this realization...so it appears that he is taking these thoughts to school. He also knows you need a tangible "something" to get married. This can be rings, a bracelet, or in today's example an orange butterfly, Snow White style. I appreciate his neutral view that both he and Bryn need to wear the butterfly in order to be married. He does have some work to do on the naming of said butterflies though!!
Always entertaining to see what this crazy kid has done or said all day when we are away!! :)

The Market
Perhaps the last time we get to the market before we have a new addition? Who knows. Either way we wanted to get out of the house, Though I can't seem to remember why. It was an unusually tough outing. Deven is generally a bit a handful (being 2.5 and all) but today was down right difficult. Nick and I have come to the conclusion that he must still be getting over a little cold and is getting in some new back teeth. Something that would make any of us grumpy, but no less difficult to handle when nick and I are freaking out about having baby sister soon.
Freaking out may be an over statement but we did drag car seat, baby bag and momma hospital bad down with us today just in case...you never know, right? So to help us cope we are giving Deven liquid food and letting Tylenol and Disney help us handle his mood this evening!
These pics are from the market today...his tough guy face, his desire for alone time and some comfort food explain a lot in hind-sight!!

Happy birthday Nick!
Deven and I prepared earlier on in the week for nicks birthday celebration. We got balloons, streamers, these strange party blow roll up things and of course cake!! We headed up to Cle Elem this weekend to the Wright family cabin to celebrate with the Wright's and the Harrington's. I was/am a bit worried about being so far from Seattle at 37 weeks pregnant, but so far so good.
This is a picture of my main course! I heard about this chocolate cake with cayenne pepper and cinnamon a couple of weeks ago on a radio show and thought it would be perfect to try for Nick's party. I went the semi easy road and got a box for the main cake and looked up how much spice to add. For those interested it was two teaspoons of cinnamon and 3/4 teaspoon of cayenne. Spread a generous about of chocolate frosting on that puppy and you have a pregnant ladies last wish...I mean the perfect cake to present your wonderful and deserving husband!!
Delish'!!

Spa evening
I'm fresh from GJ thanks to saved up Christmas and Valentine's gifts from Nick and Deven. Maternity massage and pedi can't go wrong. I'm feeling pretty comfortable so I thought it would be a good time to document the 'ol belly so I can remember why we will be done after two!! : ). 37 weeks tomorrow!

Baby sister update
These pics are of sister's profile and her fist.
Last Wednesday we had a growth ultrasound and they estimated that she was just shy of 7lbs at 6.15 at that point. They also predicted she would be around 8.13 if she came at 40 weeks. I must say, I am seriously skeptical of these numbers but it would be nice! This puts baby girl in the 84th percentile, which I'm told is big but not Deven big. So we haven't scheduled anything yet, we are in 'wait and see' mode until...well...until we're not.
Some statistics for all you spreadsheet nerds out there (like me):
*10 days before Deven was born they predicted he could be as big as 9.14 and ultimately they thought he would be between 9.5 and 10lbs
*Deven was born at 10.11
*generally babies gain about an 1oz per day at this point in pregnancy
*as noted above, 4 weeks before her due date they estimate she was 6.15
*if she is born on 3/30, they predict she will weigh 8.13
So my work has started a pool for when she will be born and how much she will weigh...feel free to join in! : )

Baby Sister & Deven's New Rooms
Although baby sister's room really just needed to be painted and redecorated we (and by we I mean Nick) had to construct Deven's big boy room. New wainscoting, paint, closet organizer and not to mention the significant good will trip taken to give a better home to all Nick and my left over college 'stuff.' His room basically looks exactly the same, which was a lot harder to do than it sounds!! Thanks to Nick though everything is all done and I have been able to organize all our wonderful gifts and my many, what feels like, last minute purchases.
