Skippy Jon Jones

The Everett children's museum had a little production of Skippy Jon Jones today.  I'm so glad we decided to wake Tova up from her nap (after two hours) because she loved it just as much as Deven did.  The book series has been a favorite of ours since my sister's got Deven the books a couple years ago.  For the most part both our kids sat and watched the VERY animated show.  Huge miracle in our book.  Maybe a sign of a calmer world?  I won't hold my breath, especially given our post show play date up stairs with a best bud Charlie.  Tova has been to the museum a lot in her short life but this is really the first time we've let her just go...apparently she was ready.

Please note Deven dressed himself today
Little dare devil was climbing up and down the slide
She tried really hard to climb up just like Dev
Post show meal - how could we not have Mexican after a Skippy Jon Show (lots of references to yummy frijoles)

Happy Friday

The ladies found an old picture of Tova and gave it to me this morning.  I think she is about 6months old.  Look very carefully at our sweet Tova. showing her sass at an early age. Have a happy Friday!!

Please Support Me in the JDRF Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes

 Renée Burgess

Hi All I am going to go out a limb here but stick with me, it's important.

This year, I'll be taking part in the 31st Annual Nordstrom Beat
the Bridge to Beat Diabetes, benefitting JDRF.  Our goal is to
raise more than $1.54 million for JDRF, the leading global
organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.

I decided to join my friend Renee's team this year.  She has
participated in this even for the last couple of years.  The
cause is near to her heart as she lives every day with T1D.
Renee is a teacher, a momma and a down right awesome
friend.  I can't imagine adding T1D on top of a momma schedule.
So in support of her and the cause in general I’m asking you to
help my fundraising efforts with a donation. Your tax-deductible
gift will help make a difference in the lives of people with T1D.

It is faster and easier than ever to donate. Simply click on the link
at the bottom of this message to donate online. If you prefer, you
can mail your gift check to me at the address listed below. Please
make the check out to JDRF and include my name in the “Memo”
section.

Lake Stevens, WA 98258-8425

Any amount, great or small, helps JDRF get closer to its goal to
improve the lives of every person affected by T1D by accelerating
progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better
treating, and preventing T1D. I greatly appreciate your support and
will keep you posted on my progress.

Thanks for your help everyone,
Angela

Hockey fete two.

Pics didn't come thru on the last post...

Hockey fete

This weekend we had an exclusive invite to a 30th birthday bash up in bellingham.  Nick's buddy Dane turned thirty this week and his gorgeous wife Gretchen gave him surprise party the sports plex in Bellingham.  It was so cool, the whole rink was rented out and there had to have been 50+ people and tons of kids.  I'm so glad dev reminded me to grab his hockey sticks and a puck!  Dev was not a fan of just skating around per se...i.e., grabbing nick and otherwise freaking out.  Well once nick gave dev his hockey stick and a puck all was well.  Nick was super proud.  It was pretty amazing to watch a kid, who at times we question his ability to walk like a normal human, actually stand on the ice and hit a puck!!
Tova on the other hand had absolutely no reservations about the ice.  Once I let her walk out on the ice once that was it.  Couldn't keep the chick off it.  My toes were going to fall off so I really have no idea how she was ok but she was.  They let kiddos get rides on little buckets the rink has and she was all about pushing the kiddo chairs that she wasn't even tall enough to see around.  It was hilarious, she was so excited!
We had a friend take a few family pictures so I hope to have a follow up post soon but here is the preview.
The ice is calling Tova and dev is wolfing down some dinner faster than I've ever seen after his two hour skate session as he watches the adults hit some slap shots.

Happy Birthday Tova

So I looked and it has been over two months since I have posted to this blog.  This may coincide with Nick leaving the house for 6 weeks of training for his new job with BPA but I'm not sure.  We are ending out his first week back and trying to get things back to normal, or what ever that is anyway. :)

This morning at 5am - totally fine because she let me sleep the rest of the night

Well I think I am back to blogging and I will try my best to back fill but for tonight I need to document Tova's FIRST BIRTHDAY.  I decided to celebrate by taking the next two days off of work to relax (now that Nick is back) and to prepare for her PARTAY!!

Deven celebrating Tova's bday with a pink doughnut and a hot chocolate

We started the day by getting Starbucks for Deven and apple deliveries at school (her favourite as treats for everyone).  Yes, I dropped both kiddos, including Tova at school before 8am.

Goodie bags for Tova's party this weekend

I know she would have preferred that over target and home depot though. :)  I got the goodie bags ready to go.  Took sammy out for a quick outing and went back to grab the kiddos for a doctor visit.

When I picked up Tova up the ladies had given her her first ponytail...cutest thing ever

Yes, I scheduled Tova's 12 month checkup that included shots on her actual birthday.  Momma of the year, I know.  But you know, except for the silent cry that immediately occurred, the nursing session (with her bro in the room first the first time since she was a week old) made it all better.

"Here's lookin' at you kid"

Of course we celebrated by going out to dinner.  LS got a new (or at least new to us) Mexican restaurant so we decided to hit it.  It was wonderful and also of course, Tova loved it!!

I sort of went picture crazy today so here is the round up.

Post ponytail hair lookin too cute not to take one last picture for the night
Poor Tova being the second child.  I haven't done her likes and dislikes in so long.  So here goes:

Likes:
*Sally - her dolly she and I picked up at the UW Bookstore a few weeks ago.  She loves to hug and kiss her and she can usually make her feel better when the mean momma forces her into her car seat in the morning.
*Sam - still makes her list.  Sam must really like her too because he lets her do some mean things to his tail and rolling around his dog bed (I try to stop her).
*Deven - oh my, she loves her bro.  She picks up all his crazy moves including loving to jam shake to any good tune that plays on the device of the hour.
*Copying us - words (dada for when she's happy, momma for when she sad or frustrated, dahhhh for deven, uuuhhh oooohhh for when anything drops), actions (she loves to kiss and hug and talk on the phone, point and drum and clap), she is seriously soaking it up now and learns more everyday.
*Walking - yes, she started doing the falling walk around 11 months and started putting steps together a couple of weeks ago but can I get a camera on her when she does it ever?  NO!  We swear the girl can walk across the room and we will get evidence asap!
*Sleeping - yes, I am happy to report that sleeping is Tova's new hobby and mine as it were.  While it's not every night I can safely say that at least three nights a week since the day she hit 11 months old she started giving me ALL NIGHT.  All night.  ALL NIGHT.  I'm still recovering from the first 11 months over her life but we have a good start going.
*books - I love that she finally loves books.  She doesn't necessarily sit to listen to them but she loves to look at them on her own and carry them around.  Chewing them isn't out of the question either.  Books are good.

Dislikes:
*putting on cloths - Nick said this is not a good start for a young lady.  Seriously thought, it's not that she wants to be naked.  If she could keep the same PJs on and possibly the same diaper on for the rest of her life I think it would work well for her.
*sitting still - this may by a symptom of watching her brother's every move but holy cow until I get her in her cocoon of room with the white noise machine and some momma milk she is nutso!
*normal food - she's working on it but she not really getting this prepared food thing...except for ice cream we found out tonight...ice cream is totally OK.
*being put down - I think this has been on her dislike list since she was born but until I can put her down for more than five minutes and/or prepare a meal without having to figure out ten new places to put her it will continue to make it.

Can't believe this chick is one already but I dig it.  This is when it starts getting fun.
