8 weeks

Deven is 8 weeks old! I would have a picture of him but he is currently in a growth spurt coma and will not be woken (except to eat)! Our little man is defying my research that says growth spurts generally happen at 7-10 days, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months and 9 months. He definitely had one at 6 weeks and is currently coming down (I am praying) from an 8 week one. I weighed him this Monday the 24th and he was 14lbs 10oz and then weighed him again today and he has now hit the 15lbs mark. YES, that is 6oz in about two days!! Also, if I measured accurately he is about 23.5 inches long head to heal. He is certainly a growing boy.

Here are a few specific details:

Likes:
  • Pushing up from a sitting position to a standing position using mom or dad's fingers for help.
  • Scooting - while having tummy time on mom's tummy; he uses my legs as leverage but hasn't quite figured out that his arms have to move too unless he wants to fall on his face.
  • Silent spitting up - especially while playing with dad; one minute no spit up and the next Nick is covered. It makes Deven and mom laugh.
  • Laughing and giggling when anybody catches his eyes...he opens his mouth up really wide and lets out a fun little laugh.
  • His Einstein play chair - although his feet can't quite reach the bottom he love to sit and look at all the toys and sometimes reach out to touch them.
  • Bath time is a hit - no specific playing yet though, he just looks around in amazement.
Dislikes:
  • Sitting - as discussed above he prefers to stand!
  • Getting dressed and/or getting undressed - I think he would prefer to wear the same clothes and diaper all day long!
  • Sleeping without his swaddle - due to reflexes his arms fly around and scare him so we have to wrap him like a burrito so he can have some good nap and night time!
  • Dairy - mom cannot have cows milk...or else!!

We are all doing great and can't wait to see what the next weeks have in store for us...perhaps a full night of sleep? I won't hold my breath! ; )
