Momma's Day 2012

Nick and I decided to make everyone come to our house this Mother's Day and do what seems to have evolved into one of our favourite things to do - subjecting all who enter our home with experimental recipes.

The menu was:

1. veggie frittata (yellow onion, red and green bell pepper and zucchini) with a pesto sauce topped with goat cheese
2. German muffin pancakes with a strawberry rhubarb compote
3. roasted potatoes
4. bacon
5. sausage
6. and of course mimosas

Truthfully the German muffin pancakes was the only dish we hadn't made before but it could have been yucky so thanks to Nick's Mom and Sister as well as my Mom and Sister for giving it a go.

Being a mom apparently means you get presents and I was treated very well.  Deven may me a surprise wood flower that I plan to take back to work with me in a few weeks.  Both Nick and my mom gave me yet another opportunity to hone my skills (or lack thereof) keeping greenery alive with beautiful hanging baskets...one for the front and one for the back.  Here's to my green thumb, let's hope this is my year!  Red roses a la Nick's mom with a beautiful new vase completed my gifts!!  The love was certainly felt for sure but perhaps the best gift I got was the 45 minutes I had all to myself (first time in weeks) when both Deven and Tova were napping and Nick was out (sorry babe).  I actually sat out on our deck in the sun, ate an apple and read a chapter of a book I have been trying to read for months.  It was pretty heavenly!!

So thanks family for a wonderful day - we missed all of you that couldn't make it but you know we will see you soon.

Pics: Deven is 34.5 months and Tova is 5.5 weeks

Mother's Day 2011

We may be starting a tradition - for mother's day #2 (see mother's day #1 here) we visited the Pike Market for a cappuccino, croissant and bread for dinner at Le Panier. After a fun walk and a few impulse buys at the book store and dried fruit stand we headed over to Green Lake to play at the play ground. It as a huge sand box but Deven really just felt like sitting in a small little corner of a boat in the middle of the sand box. We couldn't even persuade him to play on the slide. We were all grateful for the sun shine and finished up our morning with pizza for lunch and a nap for EVERYONE including this momma.

Mother's Day

I know I am a little late in discussing mother's day but oh well! We had a great day, Deven let us sleep in until 8:30!! We decided to head to GL for a walk around the lake. Nick and I realized that we hadn't done this yet with the new stroller. Deven played in the grass for the first time, which is strange given that we have a yard but I guess we just haven't had the chance or rather the NW weather hasn't really allowed! Here are some fun pics Nick took! Notice the Mohawk courtesy of the sun screen acting as hair product. Oh and he really is that pale...just like momma and dadda!!

After a stroll around the lake Nick and I decided it was Popsicle weather. Deven got his first taste of strawberry Popsicle (don't worry it was 100% fruit and even had big strawberry chunks). Funny boy, he started laughing at it! The coldness made his mouth cringe but he just laughed and went back for more!
After GL we had soccer so back we went to Everett where we met up with Aaron who looked after Deven for us. I got my second ever goal! It sort of just rolled in but it went in none the less.

Nick went all out for a mother's day gift and created a scavenger hut. I had to run around the how reading clues that incorporated fun facts about our 10 years together. He only had to help me once. At the end I found a basket filled with goodies any lady (mom or not) would be grateful for. It include wine, new stemless wine glasses, chocolate, a nordy's card and a few other things that are none of your business!

I had a great day and just couldn't be happier with the life Nick and I have. I am so proud!
