Mother's Day 2011

We may be starting a tradition - for mother's day #2 (see mother's day #1 here) we visited the Pike Market for a cappuccino, croissant and bread for dinner at Le Panier. After a fun walk and a few impulse buys at the book store and dried fruit stand we headed over to Green Lake to play at the play ground. It as a huge sand box but Deven really just felt like sitting in a small little corner of a boat in the middle of the sand box. We couldn't even persuade him to play on the slide. We were all grateful for the sun shine and finished up our morning with pizza for lunch and a nap for EVERYONE including this momma.

Gambling at 30

Two reasons why I don't gamble: 1. I get excited over small winnings. Look closely at this picture. That says $35 which equates to a whole $15 dollars won pour moi. 2. That entire $35 was lost not more that 10 minutes later.

The friends and cocktails were fun though. Happy 30th to Ryan, one of our best friends. Nick has known him since before he can remember (approximately 1st grade) and I met Ryan when we were 16!! Love this guy like a brother.

Sandals

Deven and I said heck with it. We are tired of the NW Washington weather. We have perfectly good sandals and cargo pants just waiting to be worn and it was (at least) not raining last Saturday so we went to the play ground looking a bit dorky but oh well!!

Milk and Cookies

Deven's school does a fund raiser each year selling pre-made cookie dough, perfect for a fun evening activity while Daddo is away golfing. I paparazzi'd Deven for his first 'just baked cookies and cold milk session'...certainly not our last!!

Kirkland Waterfront

After the Bellevue run Nick and I decided that a trip to Kirkland was in order. We did the math and it turns out to the day we were all in Kirkland last year. We definitely tested Deven's ability to party the whole weekend and Nick and I now know that if we have to wake Deven up at 5am a nap HAS to happen by 11am but at least we all got to eat and we got to get some vitamin D before the total melt down. Ducks beware...

Spring??

I referred to the two days of sun we have had in April a couple of posts ago but every once in a while we get an afternoon as well. Earlier this month the sun was out on a Friday afternoon so Deven and I, "got in the car, went over the bridge and played at the museum," while we waited for Nick to get off work. The museum has an out door play ground that was perfect for celebrating a rare glimpse of that bright yellow thing in the sky!!

Bellevue 10K

Nick and I decided to step up our fun runs a notch and signed up for the Bellevue 10k this month. We woke poor Deven up at the crack of dawn and made it down to Bellevue by 7am - no easy feat especially since Nick and I were celebrating a friend's 30 birthday and Deven was partying with his buddies at school until 10pm the night before!! We met up with Grandma and Grandpa Bodle who gladly played with Deven in a vacant mall while Nick and I endeavored our first run without Deven. It was sort of strange but also fun to see what we could do minus Deven and the stroller's 30+ pounds. We both kicked butt - but I must brag just this once - I totally beat Nick!! Awesome!! Here are our final results.

There was a Marine troop there who did the 5k and so we ran into them when the two races combined at the end. I was so energizing to see them/hear them as we ran and it really got me through that last mile!!

The Tulip Festival

Ever since Nick and I moved to Lake Stevens (now 6 years ago) I have heard wonderful things about the Tulip Festival and just how wonderful it is. We have never had the opportunity until this year so we packed up the troops on the first of the two sunny days in April and we headed up north. Yes, that is correct, we don't live as far North as Skagit County!! We found a great little tulip farm and let Deven go nuts. He can't stop talking about Tulips now and even pretends he is driving his toy car to see the tulips - it's hilarious. We also took a short tour of La Connor, ate some artery clogging fry bread and played in a near by playground before nap time became VERY necessary!

All I can say is go early to the Festival if you can ever make it. It is totally worth it but I am not sure I would have said so if I had had to wait in the traffic we saw on our way back home. Here are some fun pictures we were able to grab while chasing Deven around the garden!!

Blogging

I find myself alone on a Thursday night, chocolate cookies and wine in hand, my favorite version of Pride and Prejudice (the Keira Knightley one...blasphemy against Colin Firth I know but it's true) on the big screen and a blog severely in neglect...let the updating begin...

Shall I start with the theme of the month? Tulips. Here is visual a preview of the up coming entry.
