Sounders FC

Shout out to the Sounders (0-1)...its OK guys! Just don't eff up again!!

Prep time!

Turns out we are having a baby in about 11 weeks so we thought it might be a good time to start the baby's room.

Our friend Olga gave us a great deal on all of her baby furniture and Nick has taken on the task of refinishing everything. Ryan came over today to help him out but according to the boys it is going to be a long project...hence the necessary beer.

The process is pretty smelly so the boys moved the project to the garage by the end of the day.
Here are the two paint colors side by side...again all kudos to Nick!

My contributions to the preparations are generally noted through my research and purchasing abilities. To relieve some "after exam stress" I stopped off at the local Babies R Us and purchased some bedding, decorations and a new outfit for the little guy.

It was certainly weird picking things out for us rather than off a registry, but I think I got the hang of it fairly quickly.

27 weeks and counting!

By specific demand I got into my cutest weekend-wear thus far and made Nick take my picture! Thank you to Nordstrom for the shirt and to Bethany for the jeans!!

Colors for Baby's room

So we haven't come to a conclusion on the name just yet but we did spend about an hour at home depot last night and came to a decision on the color of his room. This may seem like a simple thing but for us picking paint color is always a significant effort!! Below is the swatch and we decided on using the two lighter shades. We are thinking a little burnt red accent via a rendition of the Fat Tire (beer) label!!

Nicks Birthday (part1) - Gnocchi Night

Nick's 28th birthday was yesterday and I celebrated by cooking for HIM for once! If you don't know, Nick is generally the cook in this house. I do it only as a last resort! ; ) Not for lack of know how mind you...

I know it sounds lame but we have been wanting a food processor for the longest time and so yesterday on the ride in to work I had a brilliant idea. I (thank the shopping gods) work right next to Pacific Place, Nordy's and all the other fun boutiques down town. So on my lunch break (yes I actually took one in honor of Nick's birthday) I headed over to William Sonoma and consulted with a sales associate. I came away with a fabulous new four cup Cuisinart.
I decided to create an Italian meal with Pesto Gnocchi, a bottle of our favorite Bogle Petite Sarah (no I wasn't drinking and yes, I know this is straying from the Italian theme) and Tiramisu for dessert. Below is Nick's documentary of the blessed event where is wife actually cooked dinner for him.

Below: Top- notice the new Cuisinart used to make fresh pesto for the meal. Bottom - the Gnocchi squares before boiling...I make them a little big but they were yummy!!

Below: Me and my almost 24 week belly about ready to put a batch in for the boil. Notice the basil plant in the back ground picked clean for the pesto. Yes, we grow basil because we use it a lot and it is really expensive!!

For Part2 of Nick's birthday we are off to Redhook Ale Brewery in Woodinville, WA this evening with a bunch of friends. As I will likely be the only sober one at the event I will be sure to capture the moment and post them soon for your enjoyment!!

Latest Check Up!

Tuesday 2/17 baby and I had a monthly check up. No new pics (still need to scan the previous ones) but generally everything is going according to the text books. I am measuring perfectly and apparently I have gained the perfect amount of weight...I am still thinking I need to cut out some of my taco time trips and visits to the bakery! ; )

One slight hick up in all the perfectness though. I have a bit of a funny shaped uterus, heart shaped to be specific. I have been completely reassured that due to the successful progression in my pregnancy so far that it is likely this revelation will not cause much if any problems. To break it down, I just may not be able to offer as much space for our little man to grow as other moms. There may be a higher risk of pre-term labor or a breech presentation upon delivery. To be ultra conservative the doctor has put me into what she is calling a higher surveillance category...aka the Blue Guarded Level per DHS! So, every regularly scheduled checkup will also be accompanied with an ultrasound where we will be able to monitor the baby just a little closer. More opportunities for pictures!! The doctor reassured us, however, that there is no reason to treat this as other than a normal pregnancy because she believes that is exactly what I am having.

That's it for this week, now to settle in for a quiet weekend...Nick is off to a boys weekend at the Wilson Cabin. I am sure he will have some interesting stories when he gets back!

Its Friday

I am finally making the time to update this blog. This has been a big month for us! Nick and I found out that we are having a baby boy (name yet to be determined). The little guy has been kicking up a storm lately and this last Wednesday Nick felt him for the first time. It was such and exciting moment for the both of us. This is a pic of me at (almost) 21 weeks. I have some new ultrasound pictures of the little fella but have yet to remember to get them scanned! Soon enough I am sure.

Sam is oblivious to what is going to happen in about 4 months but we have been having a lot of fun within him in the mean time. This is him at our Superbowl party (hence the beer can) where Nick unveiled his home entertainment project complete with 50'' flat screen, surround sound and cool new receiver.

I hope to get those pics of the little guy up soon. For now we are just waiting for our next check up which is this coming Tuesday 2/17.
